William Gladstone signed envelope marked immediate and addressed to Echo Office. Some faults with the envelope flap missing & remnants of mounting remains.

Gladstone, initially a Tory before the parties split, was a Liberal Prime Minister serving on four separate occasions and is the oldest ever Prime Minister at 84. Gladstone’s oratory skills are famous and he stanchly supported low public spending and electoral reform, subsequently gaining the name ‘The People’s William’. Gladstone was a strong proponent of Home Rule in Ireland although never succeeded in passing his bill.
