Roland Garros Autograph | Piloted First Flight Across Mediterranean
Roland Garros signed postcard featuring a photograph of a Garros monoplane flight at the Aerodrome des Gayeulles, Rennes, in 1910. Very good condition, signed in pencil to a clear area.
Roland Garros (1888–1918) was a pioneering French aviator and First World War fighter pilot. In 1913 he became the first pilot to fly solo across the Mediterranean, a major milestone in aviation history. Garros died at only 29 when he was shot down in aerial combat in October 1918, only a month before the end of the war.
