Robert Peel signed handwritten letter written from Whitehall dated 24^th January 1828. In part he writes ‘I make the liberty of informing you that Parliament will certainly meet on Tuesday next.’ Framed alongside a portrait illustration, measures 20x14”.

Robert Peel was the father of the Conservative Party who served as Prime Minister during two spells between 1834 & 1846. He was a great economic reformer whose free market instincts saw him remove over 1,200 protectionist tariffs, most notably the repeal of the Corn Laws, but is perhaps best remembered for the creation of the modern police force during his time as Home Secretary.
