King Edward VIII | Signed Pictorial Card

King Edward VIII signed cabinet card by F. Ralph featuring a young Edward holding his baby brother George. He has signed ‘Edward’ whilst also adding George’s name in his own hand. A scarce early signature & an attractive item; measuring 6.5x4.25”.

Edward VIII was King of the United Kingdom, the Dominions of the British Empire, and Emperor of India. With the outbreak of the First World War he joined the Grenadier Guards in June 1914, and received the Military Cross in 1916. During his reign he quickly alarmed the establishment with his disregard of protocol and conventions; with his proposal to American divorcee Wallis Simpson causing a constitutional crisis. Edward abdicated in order to proceed with the marriage and was entitled as the Duke of Windsor, his reign lasted only 326 days.
