On 14th December 1895 Prince George, Duke of York, and his wife the Duchess of York gave birth to a son at York Cottage, Sandringham, Norfolk. He was named Albert Fredrick Arthur George after his Great-Grandfather Albert, Prince Consort. He would become known as 'Bertie' by friends and family.
