The Who single stamp, signed drummer Kenney Jones
The Who first day cover features a single stamp and a Townshend Rd postmark dated 17.10.24. Autographed by Kenney Jones, who became The Who’s drummer after Keith Moon’s death.
In November 1978, Jones was asked to join The Who by guitarist Pete Townshend and manager Bill Curbishley. Jones was selected because of his close ties to the band from his time with the Small Faces, his friendship with Moon, and his work with Townshend, Daltrey, and Entwistle on the Tommy soundtrack. He played on albums Face Dances and It's Hard, the McVicar film soundtrack, and toured with The Who from 1979 to 1982. Jones also performed with the band during Live Aid in 1985.
