Major General Julian Thompson CB OBE RM of the Royal Marine Commandos was involved in the planning of the initial landings carried out by his Brigade.

Brigadier J K Rickett CBE commanded the Welsh Guards, who formed part of the 5th Infantry Brigade of the British Tank Force sent to liberate the Falkland Islands from Argentinean occupation.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Peter Squires was Chief of the Air Staff during the start of both Operation Veritas and Operation Telic.

Major General A Whitehead commanded 45 Commando, Royal Marines who carried out the attack on Two Sisters
