Russ Abbot is a British comedian, actor, and singer who rose to prominence in the 1980s with his own television variety show, The Russ Abbot Show.  Abbot began his entertainment career as a drummer in various bands before transitioning to comedy and acting. He gained early recognition for his work on television variety shows such as The Comedians and The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club.

In 1980, Russ Abbot was given his own television show, The Russ Abbot Show, which ran for 16 years until 1996. The show featured a mix of comedy sketches, musical performances, and celebrity guests, showcasing Abbot's talent for impressions and character comedy. It became a popular fixture of British television and earned Abbot a dedicated fan base.
