Royal Wedding Centenary of Prince Albert & Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon
Centenary of the Royal Wedding of Prince Albert, Duke of York and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in 1923.
The ceremony was not the grand royal affair befitting a future King and his Consort, because nobody knew at the time that Prince Albert would later ascend to the throne. He was the second son who was never supposed to be crowned as King, so when Prince Albert, Duke of York, wed Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on 26 April 1923, the ceremony was lower key than those of previous future monarchs.
This Royalty commemorative features a £1.55 Queen Victoria and King George VI Stamp Classic stamp with centenary, London SW1, Westminster Abbey postmark 26.04.23 and includes genuine 2½d King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother stamp.
The pair became better known in their lifetime as King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
