Queen Victoria Jubilee Stamps, 3d Purple/Yellow
3d Purple/Yellow (SG202) with 18th November 1899 cancel. A nice registered cover although opened a little untidily. Addressed to Folkestone with 19th November 1899 arrival backstamp.
This was part of the 1887 'Jubilee issue' released during Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee Year, and remained in use for the rest of her reign. The set included the first British stamps printed in two colours, a decision in response to the criticism the 1883-1884 Lilac and Green issue had received for being too dull.
