Queen Victoria signed Initials
Queen Victoria signed mourning cover with her initials. Addressed to Sir Edward Malet at the British Embassy in Berlin who was her ambassador to the German Empire.
Queen Victoria’s 63 years and seven months reign is the second longest of any British monarch. Victoria ascended to the throne aged 18 and married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in 1840 with whom she had nine children which married into royal families across the continent, earning her the title, ‘the grandmother of Europe’. Her largely popular reign witnessed huge industrial, political, and cultural changes, which ensured her status as a national icon.
