Ron Warwick first went to sea as a 15 year old cadet and spent the early part of his career gaining experience with several companies across a variety of ships. In 1970 he joined Cunard before being awarded his first command in 1986 aboard Cunard Princess. In 1990 he followed his father's footsteps when he became Commander of the QE2, the first father and son to have commanded the same ship in Cunard history. He was made Master Designate of the newly built QM2 and was later given the honour of becoming Commodore of the Cunard Line in 2003.
