The British Airways Concorde last jetted of across the Atlantic from London to New York on the 23rd October, 2003. This cover is postmarked 5 years on, on the same day. The cover carries a Union Jack stamp a label from of our Concorde; Queen of the Skies stamp sheet, and the postmark used commemorates the 5th Anniversary since Concorde's retirement. It has been doubled with a single 1969 Concorde stamp and cachet, and a USA stamp and 'Final Arrival in New York' cachet

Concorde - Final Transatlantic Flights 23rd and 24th October
It was an emotional scene at Heathrow airport when Concorde, the legendary supersonic aircraft, finally landed at the end of it's last commercial passenger flight on 24th October 2003. This final transatlantic flight, ended 27 years if aviation history and carried 100 celebrities from New York touching down at 16.05 BST. As it did so, the thousands of people gathered by the runway on a specially built grandstand sent up a tremendous cheer.

Former British Airways Concorde Captain Adrian Thompson flew the very last commercial Concorde service, which was the BA001 London to New York, on 23rd October 2003, the evening before she was retired.
