Wembley has hosted all sorts of events from exhiitions to pop concerts, although we willl always remember the Twin Towers. The new arch, dominated above the roofs of London will become the new symbol for exciting times. The new stadium gave us a 90,000 all seated 21st century venue. This lovely cover celebrates the opening of the new Wembley Stadium. It features the new Wembley Stadium miniature sheet along with our Wembley, Middlesex postmark, and is available signed by Sir Henry Cooper, or Frank Bruno MBE.
The old Stadium opened its doors to its first FA Cup Final in 1923. 'The White Horse Final' when Billy, the police horse, sorted out the 200,000 crowd and earned the right for the walkway to the new stadium to be named after him. Then there was the Wembley exhibitions of 1924 and 1925, which gave us the first commemorative stamps. All sorts of great sporting events have been held here.
