Evoking holidays of yesteryear, this lovely cover will be a classic. The painting by Steven Jones brings back happy memories - dabbling in rock pools and hunting for shells. This cover has the full set of 10 British Sea Life stamps, released on 1st February 2007, along with our Fishguard postmark. It is available signed by Kate Humble.
It is all too easy when exploring the coastlines to take it at face value. How often do you really stop to think about the environment you are in or to look at it from the point of view of nearby brown seaweeds? You may see the coast as rock, mud or sand. You may notice the water is clear or turbid. You will be aware of the waves lapping or pounding the shore. We know that the sea tastes salty and is normally cold. The sea covers 70% of the earth's surface and actually provides around 99% of the available living space.
The vast coastline and seas of the United Kingdom have a remarkable marine natural heritage and provide rich resources for both work and play. These are treasures that need to be safeguarded. All of us can play a part in stopping pollution as all waters eventually lead to the oceans. For example more oil polution is caused by leaky engines on shore than all the oil tanker disasters of ou oceans.
