Splendid cover to commemorative the 40th Anniversary of the First Non-Stop North Atlantic Crossing Flight. This particular plane had one livery on one side and another livery on the other side.
Our lovely cover features a 2002 Airliners Concorde stamp and a Washington, Sussex postmark (26th September, 2013). It has been doubled with a USA and French stamp and special cachet, and is available signed by Yvonne Pope Sintes.
40th Anniversary of the First Non-Stop North Atlantic Crossing
On 26th September 1973 Concorde 02 made it's first non stop North Atlantic crossing from Dulles airport, Washington to Orly airport, Paris in 3 hours and 33 minutes, breaking the previous transatlantic record in half. The Concorde was returning from a visit to America to promote Concorde's efficient service. Pilots Jean Franchi and Glibert Defer flew the plane at an average speed of 954mph to arrive 13 mnutes ahead of schedule.
