England beat New Zealand in a thrilling World Cup Final. It is England’s first ever Cricket World Cup and follows final defeats in 1979, 1987 and 1992. England are world champions after tying with New Zealand on 241 each after their respective 50 overs. They both scored 15 in the super-over – but England won thanks to hitting more boundaries in their 51 overs.

Royal Mail are marking the World Cup success of the England Cricket team by issuing a miniature sheet of four stamps. The sheet will feature images from the team’s campaign, along with a 'Cricket World Champions' London NW8 postmark (26th September, 2019).

2019 Men’s Final

The 2019 Cricket World Cup Final will go down in history as the greatest ODI match ever played. Held at Lord’s on July 14th, the fifth time the home of cricket has hosted the final, England and New Zealand began the game with neither side having ever lifted the trophy.

England pair Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler scored 15 off their super over and in reply New Zealand started well before a couple of good Jofra Archer deliveries left the Black Caps needing two to win off the final ball. Martin Guptill hit into the leg side with England fielder Jason Roy picking up the ball cleanly with a great throw to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler who whipped off the bails with Guptill well short of the crease. England were sent into hysteria after a true classic for the ages.
