Issue Name: Roald Dahl Museum Stamps torn from the Miniature Sheet
Producer: Buckingham Covers
2012 was a classic year for stamp issues, and Roald Dahl was one of the big reasons behind this. He has delighted entire generations young and old, and we've taken the opportunity to celebrate the works of Roald Dahl by working in association with the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. This lovely cover features the stamps torn from the Roald Dahl miniature sheet along with a Great Missenden, Bucks postmark and is available signed by Felicity Dahl or Sir Quentin Blake CBE.
Roald Dahl Museum
Storytelling galore, poetry, dragons, comics and more are all to be found at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. It opened in June 2005 in Great Missenden, the village that was Roald Dahl's home for 35 years and the inspiration for many of his stories.
There is always something going on every day throughout the school holidays, from free craft activities in the craft room at the back of the Story Centre to the free story-telling sessions in the courtyard or in Miss Honey¹s classroom if it rains. There are other fantabulous workshops too, everything from whizzpopping, hands-on science workshops to puppet-making, drama and delumptious cookery classes.
The Museum has two fun and fact-packed biograhical galleries, where visitors can find out about the events that shaped Roald Dahl as a writer and there is a fantabulous Story Centre, full of interactive activities to spark creativity in young and old alike.
In the belief that every child has the right to a good quality of life, no matter how ill they are, Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, also based at Great Missenden, raises money to support individuals and organisations so that sick children can receive the highest quality care, advice and support. Whether that's through providing nurses, equipment, carers or toys, working with hospitals and care organisations or directly with patients, the charity wants to improve the lives of seriously ill and disabled children in the UK.
With the support of individuals, schools, companies, foundations and others the charity aims to raise money to increase the support it can provide to more children and their families each year. To find out how you can help go to www.roalddahlcharity.org.
