RMS St Helena Final Voyage

RMS St Helena was built by Hall, Russell & Company in Aberdeen, and entered service in 1990 specifically for the Saint Helena route. St Helena is a British registered passenger/cargo ship, at 6,767 gross tonnes, she can accommodate 156 passengers, together with a cargo capacity of 1800 tonnes. She is staffed by 56 officers and crew and associated facilities including a swimming pool, shop, and lounges. She also has well-equipped medical facilities and an on-board doctor. Sailing under the British flag means that the RMS St Helena is subject to some of the most rigorous safety regulations in the world. Her repeatedly high classification in the Berlitz Guide to Cruising and Cruise Ships is a sure indication of the high quality of her facilities, crew and standards.

With the start of scheduled passenger flights to Saint Helena in October 2017 providing the main passenger access to the Island,  the St Helena will be withdrawn from service in 2018. She will make her farewell voyage calling at Tristan da Cunha and then a final voyage to both Saint Helena and Ascension Island. She is expected to finish her last voyage in Cape Town.

St Helena Line Ltd has appointed the highly experienced London ship brokers CW Kellock & Co Ltd to handle the sale and it is hoped that a buyer can be found to continue to trade the vessel elsewhere in the world.
