For Christmas 2006, we worked with Bath Postal Museum and sponsored a Mail Coach through Bath to celebrate the opening of the Museum’s new home. Our Bath Postal Museum cover features a single 2nd class Christmas stamp and Bath postmark ((7th November, 2006), along with six Bath Postal Museum labels, and has been doubled with an overprinted Post & Go stamp for the opening of the New Postal Museum, along with a London WC1 postmark (28th July, 2017).
The Opening of the new Bath Postal Museum
In October 2006 the Bath Postal Museum moved, thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, to a new home beneath the City of Bath Post Office. It is an exciting and educational day out for all the family.
Once past the entrance, which is through a rescued 1930's post office in Green Street, you will be transported to a new world where, just by touching a portrait, you will be able to find out all about the two Bathonians, Ralph Allen and John Palmer, who revolutionised postal communications in the 18th century. Children will be able to try on 18th century clothes and really seem to be back in time.
