Tintagel Old Post Office
The building's original name is not recorded but its plan is that of a small manor house dating from the fourteenth century. It is an interesting and rare survival of a domestic dwelling in the extreme south west corner of England. Early in the 19th century all letters for Tintagel were brought by foot from Camelford six miles away, but with the Penny Postage introduced by Sir Rowland Hill in 1840 the increase in postal traffic led to improvements in local postal arrangements.
