Issue Name: Cunard - The Three Queens Meeting in New York - Queen Victoria Carried Cove
Producer: Buckingham Covers
For most the sight of just one Cunard liner is enough to amaze. Imagine, then, the spectacle on 13th January, 2011, when not one but three Cunard liners met in New York. Cunard's flagship liner Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria sailed alongside each other under the shadow of the Statue of Liberty, and made it only the second time in Cunard's 171 year history that the three Queens have been docked at the same time in New York. Crowds flocked, despite the freezing weather, to watch a suitably regal send-off, including a 21-gun firework salute, while each liner made it's way onto their respecive voyage.
To celebrate the 'royal' rendevous of the three Cunard ocean liners, we have teamed up with Cunard to produce this official and limited edition commemorative cover, which has been carried on the Queen Victoria for the rendevous. Limited editions have been signed by Captain Inger Olsen, who captained Queen Victoria and this cover has been carried on board. It features a single RMS Queen Mary 2 stamp, postmarked on the day of the rendevouz (13th May, 2011), and has been doubled with a US stamp and cachet, and features a "Carried Aboard Queen Victoria" cachet.
Queen Victoria joined the Cunard fleet in December, 2007. She is a true Cunarder, proudly upholding the famous heritage and traditions. With luxurious marbles, woods, plush carpets, rich fabrics and soft furnishings, this ship simply exudes elegance. Queen Victoria's many diversions and distractions ensure you are as thoroughly entertained and entirely relaxed as you could wish to be.
In January 2011, Queen Victoria crosses the Atlantic to New York in tandem with the Queen Elizabeth, arriving on 13th Jan when they meet up with Queen Mary 2 before the Queen Elizabeth embarks on her Maiden World Voyage in early 2011.
