Peter Townsend was a flying ace and one of three Hurricane pilots to shot down the first enemy fighter over British soil during the war. By the time of the Battle of Britain he was one of the most capable squadrons leaders in the RAF. He later served as equerry to both George VI & Elizabeth II & had a romance with Princess Margaret.
