Ali Haidar VC

Ali Haidar signed 1970 National Army Museum Group 5 No 4 The Sutlej Medal cover.

Served as a Sepoy in the 6^th Battalion, 13^th Frontier Force Rifles, in the British Indian Army. In April 1945, his battalion was tasked with a difficult assault crossing of the Senio River, which only Haidar and two other men managed to cross under heavy fire. Despite being wounded he charged two enemy posts, allowing the rest of the Company to cross and establish a bridgehead.
