Mike Hailwood, or 'Mike the Bike' as he was often known, was a British Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and widely regarded as one of the greatest racers in history. Hailwood rode in 152 Grand Prix Motorcycle Races from which he secured an impressive 76 wins, as well as having 14 Isle of Man TT Race wins to his name. Later on in his career he competed in the Formula One World Championships, driving 50 races in total, and in the process became one of the few racers to have competed in both motorcycle and car racing Grand Prix's. In 1981 at the age of just 40, Hailwood and his young daughter were both killed in a traffic accident.
