On 3^rd May 1943, Squadron Leader Trent led a formation of Ventura aircraft in a daylight attack on the power station at Amsterdam. The target was heavily defended by enemy fighters & anti-aircraft, with the bombing force heavily decimated by relentless attacks. Trent was able to complete an accurate bombing run, and even shot down a Messerschmitt. After releasing their payload his aircraft was hit and went down. Trent and his navigator survived and were taken as POWs, but the rest of the crew was killed.
