Len Hutton played before and after the Second World War as an opening batsman. Described as one of the greatest in cricketing history, his 1938 test innings of 364 runs remains an England record. In total he played in 79 test matches, scoring 6971 runs at an average of 56.67.
Geoffrey Boycott was an opening batsman for Yorkshire and England. He played 108 tests, scoring 8,114 runs at an average of 47.72, including 22 centuries, and ended his international career as the sports then leading test run scorer. He is one of England's most successful opening batsman and known for his patient batting style.
