King George VI signed 1941 Document

King George VI signed warrant dated 11th July 1941 remitting a six month sentence for David Archibald Hugh Richie under the National Service Act 1941. Countersigned by Home Secretary Herbert Morrison.

George VI was King of the United Kingdom, the Dominions of the British Commonwealth, the last Emperor of India, and the first Head of the Commonwealth. George VI reigned from 11^th December 1936 to 6^th February 1952). Known as 'Bertie' to his family and friends, George served in both the Royal Navy and RAF during the First World War, fighting in the Battle of Jutland in 1916 aboard HMS Collingwood. His reign witnessed the devastation of the Second World War & the subsequent collapse of the British Empire and its transformation into the Commonwealth.
