Herbert Asquith signed 1905 card
Herbert Asquith, 1st Earl of Oxford signed handwritten card with his initial H.H.A. Dated 20th November 1905 from his house at Cavendish Square. He writes 'I shall be delighted to dine on Wednesday 29th. I am afraid there is no chance of Margot being in London then.'
Asquith served as Liberal Prime Minister from 1908 to 1916. He oversaw the introduction of liberal reforms including pensions for over 70s, unemployment benefits, and health insurance for low paid workers. It was under his leadership that Britain entered the First World War but was replaced following both military and political crises.
