Great Train Robbery 60th Anniversary

The story of the 1963 Great Train Robbery still fascinates to this day, due to the sheer scale of the robbery: £2.6 million which would be the equivalent of £45 million today, from a Royal Mail train through to how the assailants were tracked down from fingerprints found on a monopoly set!

John Wigston has again produced a fantastic painting which shows a diesel-electric locomotive D326 TPO, the type of train that was attacked on the day. With a Union Jack stamp and our Cheddington postmark (8th August 2023), marking the place that the train was first stopped due to the false signal created by the robbers.
