Flowers - King Charles III First Commemorative Stamps
Tying in beautifully with His Majesty's environmental focus the first commemorative first day cover of the King Charles III reign focuses on Flowers. A moment of philatelic history.
As a nation of garden lovers, what better way to kick off the new era of British philately than a collection of 10 1st Class UK Flower stamps. Our first day cover design features Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III at the Chelsea Flower Show and our postmark (23rd March, 2023) showcases Highgrove, the family home of King Charles III and Queen Consort, Camilla. King Charles III first came to Highgrove in 1980 and the house and gardens have since undergone many thoughtful innovations.
When His Majesty first arrived, Highgrove possessed little more than a neglected kitchen garden, an overgrown copse, some pastureland and a few hollow oaks. Today, after the hard work of many people, an interlinked series of gardens now unfolds in a succession of personal and inspiring tableaux, each reflecting HM The King's interests and enthusiasms.
