Falklands Tribute, Signed Gordon Mather

2007 Falklands Conflict 25th anniversary souvenir cover with a 1st Class Union Jack stamp and our special anniversary Falkland Road, London N8 postmark. Signed by Sergeant Gordon Mather MM, G Squadron SAS (Royal Signals) during the Falklands War, and a former Chairman of the South Atlantic Medal Association. A limited edition of 25 covers.

Mather commanded a four-man SAS patrol which was inserted into East Falkland by helicopter. Mather maintained observations in the Bluff Cove area of West Staley for 28 days. In a hostile environment the patrol used their skill and stealth to report accurate and timely information of the enemy disposition. To obtain these key details Mather was required to move his observation post to close and often obvious positions, showing great courage as he knew if they were captured that extraction was not possible.

For his leadership and example Mather was awarded the Military Medal.
