Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool signed envelope front dated 1st April 1826 and addressed to Bedford.


Prime Minister from 1812 to 1827 with his tenure the third longest in history. His premiership included the War of 1812 with the United States, the end of the Napoleonic Wars, and the growing issue of Catholic emancipation. In the 1820s he was at the head of a 'Liberal Tory' faction who oversaw the lowering of economic tariffs, the abolishment of the death penalty for numerous offences & the reforming of criminal law.
