Duke of Wellington signed Envelope
Duke of Wellington signed envelope front with his initials. It has been laid flat onto a card backing to display the original seal.
Wellington served a decorated military career, particularly his command during the Peninsular Campaign of the Napoleonic Wars which included the victory at Waterloo. He later served twice as Tory prime minister; from 1828 to 1830, and for less than a month at the end of 1834. He was a strong proponent of Catholic Emancipation and his government passed the Catholic Relief Act in 1829 which bought about near full civil rights to Catholics.
