Maurice Buckmaster signed 1970 VE Day 25th anniversary, RAF Benson cover.

Maurice Buckmaster (1902-1992) was the leader of the French section of the Special Operations Executive for which he was awarded the Croix de Guerre and the US Legion of Merit. He joined the British Expeditionary Force and was on one of the last boats out of Dunkirk. He transferred to the Intelligence Corps and in 1941 was appointed to SOE's French section which recruited French agents who had not directly allied themselves with General de Gaulle.
