Christmas 2023 Miniature Sheet, St Dunstan Archbishop of Canterbury

Celebrating Christmas 2023, the miniature sheet features five new stamps inspired by the most loved traditional Christmas carols. Our limited edition collectable focuses on Saint Dunstan, Archbishop of Canterbury in the 10th Century. The stamps are the first to feature the silhouette of King Charles III; a special moment in stamps history.

St Dunstan was a skilled blacksmith and according to legend, the devil came to him in the form of a woman and tried to seduce him. St Dunstan recognised the devil and used his blacksmith skills to put a horseshoe on the devil’s hoof, causing him great pain. The devil begged for mercy. St Dunstan only agreed to remove the horseshoe on the condition that the devil never enter a home with a horseshoe over the door.
