I have always loved our submarine covers, believing them to be the highlight of the series one collection. We produced this alongside The Royal Navy Submarine Museum to show the D.A.Rapkins painting of HMS Shark being sunk off the coast of Norway in 1940. The stamps themselves are a real treat for collectors with their blend of colours & detail. It was a great achievement by the team back in 2001 who managed to have the covers carried on Royal Navy submarines and signed by the Commanding Officer. A maximum of 40 were carried per submarine.
