Bob Baker


Bob was born in Bristol and after attending Art School decided that his future lay in film and television.

Bob started writing in 1970 in partnership with Dave Martin, the contributed scripts to Dr. Who for nine years.  In between Dr. Who they wrote two thrillers starring Leonard Rossiter and several cop series including Z Cars, Hunters Walk and Target, plus several original series and serials.

In 1980 Bob and Dave went their separate ways.  Bob was commissioned to write and script edit on  Shoestring and Bergerac. Then Bob worked with HTV, on several co-productions.  He also wrote the childrens series Into The Labyrinth and script edited Smuggler, Jangles and She-Wolf.

Bob started his own company in 1990 and made a feature film starring Frank Finlay Cthulhu Mansion and in 1993, a Sci-Fi movie called Nexus.

He was asked to co-write the Wallace and Gromit short The Wrong Trousers with Nick Park.  This was followed by Close Shave then the feature film Wererabbit and most recently A Matter Of Loaf And Death, all of which won BAFTA awards in the UK and three won Oscars in America.

Having created Dr. Who's robot dog K9, Bob has recently made a 26 part series starring the regenerated mutt in Australia.  He is waiting on contracts for the second series.
