Air Chief Marshal Sir Peter T Squire, was Chief of the Air Staff during the start of both Operation Veritas and Operation Telic.
Now retired from the Royal Air Force, Sir Peter is Chairman of the Imperial War Museum and, until recently, the Vice-Chairman of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Sir Peter was commissioned into the RAF in 1966. Following initial officer training at the RAF College Cranwell and subsequent flying training, Sir Peter flew Hunters and later, Harriers.
In 1982 Sir Peter led members of his squadron in action in the Falklands campaign where he was awarded the DFC.
