Joining the RAF in March 1941, Bob Knights was posted to the USA for pilot training with the USA for pilot training with the USA Army Air Corps at Lakeland, Florida. Following OUT in Britain, he was posted to 619 Squadron on Lancasters flying 26 operations including 8 to Berlin. In January 1944, he was posted to 617 Squadron with whom he flew 44 operations including all 3 raids on the "Tirpitz". In December 1944, he was seconded to BOAC and after the war, went on to be an airline pilot. We were very sad to learn from Tony Iveson that Mr Knights recently passed away.
