Paul Goodison started sailing as a young boy with his father on a Lake in Rotherham. It was from there that his passion for the sport really grew.
After finishing University in 1999, he set his sights on the Sydney Olympics. He was narrowly beaten by Ben Ainslie in the selection process and then went on to be his training partner. After returning from Sydney he set his sights on Athens.
He qualified for his first Olympics and went to Athens determined to bring home a medal. Unfortunately he finished 4th just missing the medals but this only made him more determined for China.
In the run up to the Beijing Olympics, he rose to number one in the world, 4 times European Champion.
Determined to better his Athens performance, he left no stone unturned in his preparation. It all paid off and he cannot describe in words how amazing it was to become the Olympic Champion.
