Pilot Officer Foster, 605 Squadron, Hurricanes.
Wing Commander Foster survived the September and October fighting in the Battle. He later flew from Australia against the Japanese. He returned to the UK to promote RAF PR during the Normandy landings and was present at the liberation of Paris.
After the war, he rejoined RauxAF and served until its disbandment in 1957.
Wing Commander Foster is Vice Chairman of the Battle of Britain Fighter Association.
