Brian Trubshaw signed 1969 Concorde, Stuart cover.
Brian Trubshaw (1924-2001) is famous for being the first British pilot to fly Concorde. He enlisted with the RAF in 1942 and trained in the USA piloting Stearman biplanes before joining Bomber Command in 1944 flying Stirling & Lancaster bombers. After the war he flew with the King's Flight piloting George VI and members of the Royal Family. He left the RAF in 1950 to become a test pilot for Vickers Armstrong where he worked for 30 years on planes including the Valiant, Vanguard, VC10 & BAC One-Eleven. It was on April 9th 1969 that he flew onto the general public’s radar when he piloted Concorde for the first time from Filton to RAF Fairford.
