Avis Foley signed 1990 RMS Lusitania 75th anniversary cover. Survivor of the 7th May 1915 sinking of RMS Lusitania.

The Lusitania was a Cunard liner which held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossing and was the world's largest passenger ship. In 1915 she was sunk by a German U-boat 11 miles off the coast of Ireland, killing 1,199 passengers and crew. The sinking occurred two years before the United States declaration of war on Germany, and was a major factor in building American public support for war.
