Airey Neave signed RAF covers
Airey Neave (1916-1979) served in the Royal Artillery during the Battle of France, where he was taken prisoner in the Siege of Calais. He famously became the first British POW to escape from Colditz Castle. After the war he worked for MI9 and with the International Military Tribunal at the Nuremberg trials, before becoming a Member of Parliament. In 1979 Neave was assassinated in a car bomb attack by the INLA at the Palace of Westminster.
