The QE2 was an ocean liner built for Cunard which operated as a transatlantic liner from 1969 to 2008, serving as flagship from 1969 until 2004. During the Falklands War she carried 3,000 troops to the South Atlantic and was refitted with two helicopter pads, steel plating, and anti-magnetic coil to combat naval mines. Upon her retirement she was acquired with the purpose of converting her into a floating hotel in Dubai, where she remains to this day.
