William Warwick signed 1969 RMS QE2 Maiden Voyage, New York Postmark

William Warwick joined the British Merchant Service in 1928 and Cunard in 1937. During World War II he was in the Royal Naval and served on coastal patrols, before being transferred to protecting the Atlantic convoys, and later supporting the invasion of Normandy. After the wars conclusion he rejoined Cunard and when the QE2 was commissioned in 1964, he had commanded every one of Cunard's passenger ships. In 1966 he was named Master of the QE2, the first person to be hold the title.
