1967 RMS QE2 Launch, Triple Carried
1967 RMS QE2 launch official Cunard cover, Launching of Clydebank postmark, triple carried on the final voyages of the British Isles, Southampton to New York, and New York to Southampton.
The QE2 was an ocean liner built for Cunard which operated as a transatlantic liner from 1969 to 2008, serving as flagship from 1969 until 2004. During the Falklands War she carried 3,000 troops to the South Atlantic and was refitted with two helicopter pads, steel plating, and anti-magnetic coil to combat naval mines. Upon her retirement she was acquired with the purpose of converting her into a floating hotel in Dubai, where she remains to this day.
