1948 Qantas Sydney - Johannesburg first survey flight. Flown by Avro 691 Lancastrian MK1, VH-EAS and signed by the pilot Captain L.R.Ambrose. This was the first survey flight across the Indian Ocean from Australia to South Africa. It left Sydney on 14th November, flying via Perth, Cocos Island and Mauritius, before reaching Johannesburg on 20th November.
