1948 Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition. Flown in an RAAF Catalini flying boat A 24-104 commanded by Squadron Leader R.H.S. Gray & piloted by Captain De La Hunty from Hobart to Macquarie Island in the Antarctic. The flights mission was rather sombre in carrying a replacement engineer to the outpost as the previous one had drowned.
